Wannabe Warabi
Fri. 11/20 – Mon. 11/23
Warabi mochi is one of Japan's classic traditional sweets. Legend has it that in the Heian period, Emperor Daigo loved warabi mochi so dearly that he bestowed upon it the noble rank of tayū.
Soy milk, too, has a long and storied history. According to one tale, Liu An, a prince of China's Former Han dynasty, gave soy milk to his ailing mother day after day until she was restored to health.
Cherished across the centuries, these two have at last crossed paths in present-day Kyoto—and this union of old and old has created something unexpectedly new. That is the warabi mochi drink brought to you by "Wannabe Warabi."
Come taste a newness that neither the Heian emperor nor the Han prince could ever have known—only at the November Festival!
