Model Trains

Through the dynamic landscape run our model trains! Find familiar trains running through Kansai today, or those impossible to see them in operation now here. Let us know if you want to drive our collections, or simply know more about the trains.

Railway Research Journal "Aoi" and Original Goods

Every year our youth members work together devoting hard effort to complete a united theme and publish a journal, including independent articles written by voluntarily members as well. Take our special edition of this year's journal featuring the Expo Transportation for free! Previous journals are also available for sale.

About the organizer

Kyoto University Railfan Club

Kyoto University Railfan Club, “KURC” is, in short, a community of university students who share an interest in railways and public transportation. Recognized as an officially approved university organization, the club has been active since 1954, and we celebrate its 72st anniversary this year.

Our activities are organized into four divisions — Research, Modeling, Photography, and Recreation — covering a wide range of railway-related fields. In the Research Division, members study topics related to railways, compile their findings, and publish them in our annual research journal "Aoi". The Modeling Division builds and maintains modular layouts and exhibits model trains at events such as the November Festival (NF). The Photography Division holds photo sessions and displays members’ railway photographs during the NF. Finally, the Recreation Division organizes railway-themed recreational trips and club trip during long vacations. We also engage with the local community — for example, by hosting railway-themed events at children’s centers — to share the joy of railways with kids and residents.
