KUSB Ensemble À La Mode

Hello everyone! We are the Kyoto University Symphonic Band, also known as KUSB (pronounced “kusubu”)! Our members come not only from Kyoto University but also from many other universities, and we practice every day toward our two major concerts — the Summer Concert in June and the Regular Concert in December.

This time, we’re excited to present a special ensemble stage performed by KUSB’s enthusiastic members! The title is “KUSB Ensemble À La Mode”! In this concert, small groups of 4 to 8 players will perform a variety of pieces. Because of the intimate setting, you’ll be able to enjoy each instrument and performance up close. The concert will be held in Lecture Room 3, 2nd floor of the Faculty of Letters, on the second day of the November Festival — Saturday, November 21, from 2:00 PM.

From deep low brass to bright woodwinds, strings, and percussion, a wide range of instruments used in wind music will take the stage. In small ensembles, you can clearly hear and compare each instrument’s unique tone. Just like an “À La Mode” dessert filled with many flavors, this concert will be a dream-like experience full of diverse sounds and musical styles♬

And don’t miss the program! From the latest pop hits to cool wind ensemble pieces and nostalgic tunes from childhood, we’ve prepared a wide selection of pieces that both performers and audience members can enjoy together☆

We look forward to seeing you at “KUSB Ensemble À La Mode”! All of us in the band can’t wait to welcome you with music and smiles (^^)
