Sign Language Café – Introduction
The Sign Language Café is a space where you can enjoy friendly interaction while getting a feel for sign language in a relaxed atmosphere. Here, you can communicate in many ways — not only through sign language, but also with gestures, writing, or facial expressions.
Never tried sign language before? Think it might be difficult? Don’t worry! Our staff will kindly support you, and if you’d like, we can teach you some simple signs too.
Whether you’re interested in sign language, want to experience a new language and culture, or just need a little break — everyone is welcome!
We look forward to seeing you!
Braille Café – Introduction
The Braille Café is a space designed to help visitors experience what it’s like to have low or no vision, and to deepen understanding of visual impairment.
While enjoying coffee and sweets, you can look at and touch Braille materials and picture books in Braille. You can also try activities such as eating while wearing an eye mask, walking with a white cane, and learning how to provide guided assistance.
Experiencing “not seeing” or “seeing less” is not necessarily something to fear. With flexible support and an accessible environment, many barriers can be removed. What kinds of words or assistance are helpful? How much can the right kind of support reduce those barriers? Through learning and reflection on visual impairment, let’s take a step together toward a more inclusive and understanding society.
No special knowledge or preparation is needed — the café is open to everyone, regardless of visual ability.
Please feel free to stop by the Braille Café and enjoy the experience!
