The Secrets of Life Lab

We are iGEM Kyoto, a student team working toward winning a gold medal at iGEM!

iGEM is an international competition where student teams from around the world present their original research and ideas, aiming to tackle societal challenges through synthetic biology. Synthetic biology is a field of science that involves modifying genes and combining biological functions to create organisms or systems with new capabilities. It has the potential to contribute to a wide range of fields, including medicine, environmental conservation, and food production.

Each year, we take on a new research theme and engage in various activities, including "Wet Lab," where we test our ideas through experiments; "Dry Lab," where we use mathematical models to predict experimental outcomes and develop hardware; and "Human Practices," where we improve our project by engaging with society.

iGEM Kyoto has won gold medals at five consecutive competitions, nine in total, and we continue to strive for even greater achievements!
