KMN48

Straight out of Kumano dorm, we’re KMN 48—the self-run, do-it-all idol group!

We started as a cover group of AKB48-a legendary Japanese idol group. Now, we peform various Japanese idol songs on many occasions including community festivals in the neighborhood, events in the dorm, and this November Festival.

We are hoping to show the charm of Kumano dorm through our performance!!

Performing for 16 years and counting, this year, we’re turning up the school festival heat not just with AKB classics, but also the hottest idol hits and a variety of interesting performances!

Our performers come from all backgrounds, so it’s fun to see how we all perform together. Come see us shine!

Kumano dorm is one of Kyoto university's dormitories. Our dorm is self-running. That means we make decisions for our lifestyles on our own. It also means we take responsibility on our actions, instead of just following authority. We make sure that everyone joins in a process of making decisions and maintaining our dorm appropriately.

Although Kumano dorm only accepted Japanese male undergraduate students in the past, the eligibility expanded to postgraduate students, to female students, and eventually to international students. Anyone can live as they are, with financial and social peace of mind. We believe that that's what Kumano dorm is for.

Meanwhile, Kumano dorm is being oppressed by university authority and police by negative campaining because our governing body doesn't produce any financial benefit but is anti-authority. However, we will keep fighting against oppression to make sure the door is open for anyone, and to give our university and society more liberty.

Starting from Friday, Novewber 27th, right after the November Festival, we'll host Kumano Dorm Festival. It is the biggest event in our dorm and there will be many different kinds of programs (outside of the oppression) beyond your imagination! Please visit us and join programs you like!(You're very welcomed to visit our dorm anytime, outside of Kumano dorm festival too)
