Kebab Economics
Fri. 11/20 – Mon. 11/23
Introduction
We are Keizai 3-kumi, a first-year class from the Faculty of Economics at Kyoto University. Our stall serves kebab rolls: spiced chicken and shredded cabbage topped with harissa, a spicy North African sauce, and mayonnaise, all rolled up in a soft tortilla. They are easy to eat with one hand, perfect for walking around the festival.
Prices That Move: Dynamic Pricing
The highlight of our stall is that the price of our kebab rolls changes depending on sales and the time of day. This is called dynamic pricing, the same idea used for airline tickets, hotels, and theme park admission. Prices may be a little higher at busy times and lower at quieter times. Check the price board in front of our tent, and decide whether now is the right time to buy. Enjoy a taste of economics in action!
Menu
We studied sales data from past November Festivals and discussed as a class what kind of food people would really want to eat. The answer was this kebab roll. We also chose our ingredients and suppliers by weighing cost against quality.
Choose from two flavors: Spicy and Sweet. We also have cold drinks: cola, oolong tea, and Calpis.
Location
Find us in the Kusunoki-nishi area on the Main Campus. We look forward to seeing you!
