Forty years of continuously writing tanka poetry
At the age of 18, I joined the tanka poetry club at Kyoto University. Even after graduating and starting my career, I continued to write tanka. Recently, there's been a so-called "tanka boom," with an increasing number of young people writing tanka. I want to reflect on how times have changed over the past 40 years. I also want to discuss the meaning of continuing to pursue literature while working.
