Neuroscience of Larceny

Larceny, such as shoplifting, has been causing economic loss amount to as much as 300–400 billion yen annually in Japan amount to. However, the causes and mechanisms behind why people commit theft remain largely unknown. Here, we present findings from our research regarding the neurobehavioral characteristics of individuals who engage in repeated theft.
